Color Me Lakeland {Red} - Downtown Edition

Today we headed to the Lakeland Downtown Farmers Curb Market, which has become a Saturday tradition in our family. We met up with my brother, sister-in-law and nephew for some fun and local purchasing. After they took their son home for a nap, Craig took the kids to the library to exchange books and I was left all alone with my camera and the hunt for red.

I was pretty naive to think that I would be able to find beautiful unencumbered specimens of red at every corner. Would you like to know where red resides in downtown Lakeland? In the signs that read:

For Rent/For Sale

No Soliciting

STOP

Tow Away at Owner's Expense

Yep. There are not beautiful images of cute cars, winding starways or gorgeous flower boxes for the capturing and that was a little discouraging. After I got past my first shock of how specific this new project really is and realization that I was living in central Florida and not Paris, I buckled down and began to practice my creativity.

Here is what I discovered instead.

By the end, I was really enjoying myself and could have explored every nook and cranny of every stairway and door frame for the color red. This is going to be a tough project, but a rewarding one. The limit of Color Me Lakeland will force me to be truly in tune to my surrounding as I search for color.

I'm glad you kept looking... there's lots of red down there!

Jennifer, I was really hoping for just red instead of red with black or another couple. I think this project will morph and change as I adjust to it.
